Description
Christchurch School and the attached school houses were built around 1854 by architects WG and E Habershon, with the school houses added in 1857 by an unknown architect. There have been some alterations in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed from yellow stock brick with stone dressings and feature tiled gable roofs. The school house has moulded chimney stacks and gables topped with stone chimney finials. This irregular group of single-storey buildings is designed in a Tudor style, with a symmetrical pair of two-storey school houses on the west side. They all have arched doorways with drip-moulds and decorative ball flowers, as well as transom and mullion windows, some of which have traceried heads, and gabled dormer windows. The interiors have not been inspected. The site also features attached cast-iron railings with urn finials and lattice box piers at the gates. Christchurch School and Christ Church, Hampstead Square form a cohesive group.
