Church, now a health and fitness club. c1877. By CR Baker King, restored and converted c1989. Red brick with stone dressings; slated roof. Gabled 3-storey corner block with 2 1/2 windows to south facade, west facade with 1 1/2 windows and single storey, 4 window wing. South facade gabled with 2-light plate tracery windows to ground floor, single window of 3 pointed lights to top floor, stone niche to left and sill and arch strings. Tall slab chimney-stack. Hooded main entrance on west facade with 2 small single pointed lights above; to left 2-light window (ground and 2nd floor pointed lights) to each floor, the top floor with small gable. Sill and arch strings. Wing with 2-light trefoil headed transom and mullion windows. Toothed brick cornice at eaves level. Slated dormer with 3 pointed lights and trefoil arched barge boards. C20 stained glass. INTERIOR: altered. HISTORICAL NOTE: built as the Mission Church of St Bede.
