Description

These are two early 19th-century terraced houses with shops, located on the south side of Earlham Street. The buildings were altered in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with number 26 painted. The roofs are slate mansard roofs with dormers. The houses are three storeys high, with two windows each, although number 24 has a four-window return with alternating blank windows. Modern shopfronts are present. The architraved sash windows on the first floor have console brackets forming a cornice. A stucco cornice on number 24 is inscribed with “R PORTWINE”. An original rainwater head made of lead is also present. The interiors have not been inspected.
