Description
No. 15 Templewood Avenue is a detached house built in 1905 by C.H.B. Quennell. It is set at right angles to the road and features plum coloured brick with red brick dressings and rusticated quoins. The hipped tiled roof has dormers, tall slab chimney-stacks with brick patterning, and overhanging bracketed eaves cornice.
The house has two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The road-facing facade includes two windows. On the left, there is a projecting gabled bay that has a central full-height chimney-stack, flanked at the base by two small rectangular windows. Additional windows are located on the cheeks beneath the eaves soffit, which continues around the bay. Above this level, there are panels of brick enrichment, including an enriched diaper pattern on the chimney-stack. To the right at ground floor, there is a three-light canted bay with transom and mullion windows, and a single window to the left. The first floor features two two-light transom and mullion windows. The entrance is located in a recessed bay on the right-hand return, forming a half-courtyard with the attached motor house. The garden elevation is complex, showcasing many varied windows and a loggia balcony off the drawing room.
The interior has not been inspected.
