Description

Nos. 12 to 17, The Mount Square, form a group of six terraced houses. No. 17 also connects with No. 113 Heath Street. Nos. 12 and 13 date from the late 18th century and are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick with tiled roofs. They are two storeys high, each with one window. The doorways are connected by bracketed hoods; No. 12 has a part-glazed door, and No. 13 has a panelled door, both with blocked overlights. The ground-floor windows are recessed sashes, grouped with and linked to the doorways.

Nos. 14 & 15 were built in the late 18th century, but were refronted in the mid-20th century in a Georgian style. They are of yellow stock brick with a plain band at the second-floor level, and have tiled roofs. They are three storeys high, with two windows each. Central entrances are defined by cambered red brick arches, and the recessed sashes also have cambered red brick arches.

No. 16, also dated to the late 18th century, was refronted in the mid-20th century in a Georgian style. Constructed of yellow stock brick with a shaped brick band above the first-floor sashes, it has a tiled roof with dormers, projecting eaves, and stepped brick brackets at the angles and is two storeys high with an attic. A round-arched red tiled entrance leads to a recessed doorway with a part-glazed door. Flush sashes are set within cambered brick arches, with exposed boxing.

No. 17, dating from the late 18th century, is built of multi-coloured stock brick with a slated roof, and is two storeys high with two windows. This house features segmental brick arches over recessed casement windows. The interiors have not been inspected.
