Description
New Grove House is a semi-detached house built in the 18th century and later remodeled in a Tudor style with additions made around 1840. The building features yellow stock brick with stone and red brick dressings, and has a stucco full-height entrance bay on the right. It has slated roofs and is mostly three storeys tall. The entrance is square-headed and includes a patterned fanlight and an octagonal lantern. The frontage is irregular due to various extensions and alterations. The windows are arranged in two and three lights, featuring pointed heads and dripmoulds, with small panes, most of which are located on a stuccoed bay that is blind. To the left of the house, there is a square plan stair tower at the angle, which has strings at floor levels and lancet windows with dripmoulds. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this house was the home of George du Maurier from 1874 to 1895, which is noted by a plaque.
