Description
A pair of semi-detached houses, designed to appear as a single lodge, were built around 1907-8 by Joseph and Smitham for the Vestry of St Pancras. The houses are constructed of brick, with the upper portion above ground floor window level rendered in roughcast. A continuous stone cornice runs along the first floor. The roof is tiled, with a central gable, bracketed eaves, and tall brick end chimney stacks featuring cornices. Copper domes, topped with finials, adorn the angle turrets. The buildings are two storeys high with a basement. The design is symmetrical, with central entrances leading to part-glazed doors and overlights, each sheltered by a segmental-arched hood supported on large brackets. Narrow windows flank the entrances. A two-light sash window sits above each porch and beneath the gable at the first floor. The angle turrets feature transom and mullion windows with glazing bars on the ground floors, and similar windows without transoms on the first floors. The interior was not inspected. Attached cast-iron railings are present to the areas and steps; the front railings incorporate the St Pancras Vestry coat of arms with the motto "Constans Justitiam Moniti" ("Well Versed in Justice").
