Description

No. 128, Fortune Green Road is a semi-detached house, originally used as both a home and business premises for the monumental masons John Cramb & Son. It was built in 1886 and is located opposite the entrance to Hampstead Cemetery. The building is constructed of stucco with a yellow stock brick return on the left-hand side, and is designed in an eclectic Graeco-Egyptian style. It is double-fronted with three windows, arranged over three storeys. A projecting dentil cornice is present at each floor level. The ground floor features enriched pilasters with capitals depicting lotus leaves and masks, flanking an altered entrance and plate glass showroom windows. The upper floors have enriched pilasters at the corners, linked to architraved sash windows. The sashes on the first floor are separated by large attached palmettes, while the central window on the second floor is composed of two lights separated by an Ionic-style pilaster. The entablature incorporates paterae in the frieze and a projecting cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
