Description
This is a terrace of eight houses built around 1830 to 1840. The houses are constructed of stucco, with the ground floor of number 197 rusticated. Numbers 199, 203, and 205 have later slate mansard roofs with attic dormers. The terrace is three storeys high, with basements, and number 197 is slightly taller. Each house has two windows, except for numbers 199, 203, and 205 which have three, and number 201, which has four. Number 197 also features a two-window façade on its left return. The doorways are square-headed, with patterned fanlights above panelled doors. A plain sill band runs across the first floor. The windows are recessed sashes, with architraves on the upper floors; the first floor has cast-iron balconies, and the second floor has lugs under the window sills. A cornice and blocking course top the facade. The interiors were not inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with spearhead finials define the areas.
