Description

Number 26 is a terraced house located on Old Gloucester Street, dating from the earlier 18th century and later refaced in the 18th century. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with red brick dressings. The ground floor features channelled cement, while plain red brick bands are present at the first and second floor levels. The building has four storeys and a basement, with three windows. The entrance includes an architraved doorcase topped with a console-bracketed cornice, a fanlight, and a panelled door. The windows have gauged red brick arches and recessed sashes, most of which retain their original glazing bars. The house has a parapet.

Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have fine original panelling in the rooms, hall, and stair. The open-string staircase features twisted balusters, column newels, and carved brackets. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings in front of the area.
