Description
The water pump and four bollards at the south end of Queen Square date from 1840. The cast-iron pump features a square plan with a cushion base, a shaft adorned with strapwork design, and a capital that displays a lion mask on the south side. The base is decorated with the coats of arms of St Andrew and St George and is marked with the date MDCCCXL. A small waste water trough is attached to the pump. Surrounding the pump are three Portland stone bollards and one cast-iron bollard, all designed in a Gothic style and featuring spur stones. The pump is set within a circular arrangement of cobbles.
