Description
9 Cosmo Place is a terraced house with a later shop, dating from the early 18th century. The building features a 20th-century Neo-Georgian refronting of the upper storeys. It is constructed from multi-colour stock brick with red brick dressings and has a slated mansard roof. The house has three storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with three windows on the front.
The early 19th-century wooden double shopfront is notable, featuring an entablature with an inswept frieze and a projecting egg-and-dart cornice. The shop window slightly projects and has small panes, along with a patterned iron grille covering the cellar light below. The doorway is adorned with overlights that have patterned iron grilles, and it includes a panelled house door alongside a 20th-century half-glazed shop door. The windows have gauged brick flat arches and flush frame sashes with exposed boxing. The building is topped with a parapet.
While the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to retain some original panelling and cornices, as well as stairs featuring turned balusters with shaped ends.
