Description
Number 7 is a terraced house located on the west side of Queen Square, built in the late 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed from yellow stock brick, showing signs of tuck pointing, and features a slated mansard roof with dormers. The building has four storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three windows across its façade.
The ground floor has round-arched openings set in shallow recesses, adorned with stucco architraves and impost bands. The doorway includes a radial fanlight and a panelled door. The windows feature margin glazing, and the upper floor windows have gauged brick flat arches above recessed sashes. The first floor is enhanced by cast-iron balconies. There are stucco bands at the floor levels and at the third floor sill level, along with a stucco cornice and blocking course.
The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the property are cast-iron railings with urn finials surrounding the area. Historically, Martin Folkes, who served as President of the Royal Society and of the Society of Antiquaries, resided at No. 6 until 1763 and at No. 7 until 1765.
