Description

No. 87 Chancery Lane is a chambers or commercial premises built in 1863 by Arthur Blomfield, marking one of his early works. The building features patterned red and yellow brick with stone detailing and has a slate roof. It showcases a narrow High Victorian Gothic style influenced by Butterfield. The structure stands four storeys tall and is one bay wide, with a central gable.

The ground floor frontage has been altered in the mid-20th century and is set under a pointed arch. The first and second floors have triple light sash windows, while the third floor has twin light sash windows. All windows are divided by colonettes, with the first floor featuring lintels beneath Gothic relieving arches with brick nogged tympana. The second floor displays open Gothic arches, and the third floor has a lintel with a Gothic brick nogged relieving arch in the gable. The building is topped with a saddlestone, kneelers, and a finial.
