Description

The Gatehouse, also known as the Gate Tower, is a gatehouse located in Lincoln's Inn, dating from around 1517-18 and late 17th century. It was rebuilt in a similar Tudor style in the mid-20th century, specifically around 1956 and 1967. The building is constructed of brown brick featuring diaper work on the west front and has a lead roof.

It stands four storeys tall, with a single window on either side of the archway, which has a moulded stone surround. Above the archway, there is a single tripartite sash window. To the left of the archway, there is a foot passage, while to the right, a five-storey tower features segmental-arched sashes on the ground and fourth floors. The first, second, and third floors have slightly recessed single sashes with gauged brick flat arches, along with small, horizontally hung four-pane windows to the left.

On the east front facing Chancery Lane, above the archway, there are three stone panels displaying coats-of-arms and the date "1518," along with a small stone panel below that reads "1693." The interior has not been inspected.
