Description

This is a symmetrical terrace of six houses, numbers 9 to 14, built in the mid-19th century on the north side of Chamberlain Street, Camden. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with blue brick bands and stucco dressings, with number 9 painted. They have slated roofs with overhanging eaves supported by brackets. Numbers 9 and 14 slightly project and feature pediments. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with two windows each, except for number 9, which has three. Each house has a prostyle portico and a panelled front door with an overlight. The ground floor windows are tripartite sashes with channelled stucco voussoirs, keystones, and a triglyph with guttae drops, along with bracketed cornice sills. The first-floor sashes are architraved and have bracketed cornices, pediments, and a continuous sill band. The second-floor sashes have bracketed sills, a continuous sill band, and are flanked at the top by large, enriched eaves brackets. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with spearhead finials define the areas. The group of houses forms a very complete architectural ensemble.
