Description

This is a churchyard monument located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds, dating from 1817. It consists of a headstone and footstone made of Ketton stone, commemorating James Stedman, who was 30 years old at the time of his death. The stones are plain but feature an inscribed verse that reads: "Stop gentle reader at this humble spot, A friend is buried here but not forgot, A husband tender good and kind, A pattern to his infant left behind."
