Description
The gatepiers and walls to the stable court at Fornham Park were built around 1785 by James Wyatt for Sir Charles Kent. They feature stucco and ashlar gatepiers, along with walls made of gault brick, red brick, and flint. The structure includes a pair of large plain stuccoed piers that have moulded cornices and impost blocks. One pier supports a cast-iron lamp standard with a globe, while the other is currently covered in ivy. High walls extend from one pier, separating the stable court from the gardens of the Agent's and Head Gardener's Houses. From the other pier, a high wall made of gault brick, followed by flint and red brick, leads towards the truncated rear wall of the former Fornham House, which was demolished around 1951. A further gault brick wall connects to the former Laundry. This structure is part of a significant group at Fornham Park.
