Description
Stonecross Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th and 20th centuries. It features a three-cell lobby-entrance plan and stands two storeys tall. The structure is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a slated roof that includes a 17th-century axial chimney made of red brick. The building has 20th-century casement windows and a six-panelled entrance door, which is sheltered by an open gabled canopy supported by timber posts. The rear wing has been significantly altered but likely originated in the 17th century. Inside, there are back-to-back open fireplaces; the one in the parlour has a brick arch, while the one in the hall features an oak lintel. The roof was rebuilt at a lower pitch in the early 19th century.
