Description
The premises occupied by W J Cutting is a building from the 18th century with a plastered front that conceals an earlier timber-framed and plastered house, featuring a cross wing at the east end. The front has a parapet topped with a modillion cornice. The gable of the cross wing is mansard in style, adorned with 19th-century ornamental barge boards. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a four-window range on the main block, showcasing double-hung sash windows with single vertical glazing bars set in flush cased frames. The ground floor includes a three-light bay window at the west end and a 19th-century shop bay window supported by slender columns and topped with a modillion cornice. The flanking windows are enhanced with pilasters and cornices. The cross wing features casement windows and a 19th-century shop window with glazing bars on the ground floor. The roof is tiled, with a mansard design on the cross wing.
