Description

This building is a terrace house located at 125 High Street in Newmarket, originally built in the late 18th century with alterations and an extension added in the early 19th century. It features two storeys and attics, with a red brick construction and a slated roof that is hipped at one end, topped with red brick chimneys. The façade includes four windows, with a pair of early 19th-century bay windows on both storeys flanking the entrance. These bay windows have flat roofs and triple small-pane sash windows. The first floor also has small-pane sash windows. The entrance door is made up of six panels, with the top pair being glazed, and is recessed within an architrave supported by Doric columns, which hold up a flat canopy. Originally designed as a three-bay house, the early 19th-century bay windows and the extension to the left were added later. Inside, there is a modest 18th-century staircase featuring turned balusters.
