Description

Nos. 3 and 4, The Heath, are a pair of estate cottages built in the mid-19th century. They feature bands of ornate bricks, a plain red brick string course, and rusticated quoins, topped with a black glazed pantiled roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have an internal chimney stack with the shaft set diamond-wise. There are two-light casement windows with heavy rounded brick surrounds, including four on the ground storey and two above. The doors, which are 20th century, are also set in similar brick surrounds. These cottages are noted as the best and most decorated example of the four pairs built by Robert Lofft of Troston Hall to mark the limits of his estate.
