Description
The Jubilee Clock Tower is a clock tower built in 1887, designed in the Gothic style. It has a square plan and is constructed in red brick, featuring limestone quoins and decorative elements. The tower is topped with a pyramid roof covered in plain tiles, which includes gablets with louvres and a weather vane shaped like a racehorse.
The ground stage of the tower features a drinking fountain on three sides, set within pointed arched recesses adorned with terracotta tiles arranged in a diaper pattern, and is supported by angle buttresses. The second stage includes a frieze that bears the carved inscription "1837. Jubilate Victoriae. 1887 Clock presented by C. Blanton. Erected by voluntary contribution." Above this frieze, there are windows designed in the Early English Style, arranged in two tiers on each face of the tower. The third stage, which is set back, displays a clock framed in limestone and embellished with terracotta ornament.
