Description
Redcastle Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. It has two storeys and attics, featuring an L-shaped plan. The structure is timber framed with a roughcast front range and plain tiled roofs. A large internal chimney stack connects the front and rear ranges, characterized by a high rectangular base and four octagonal shafts with moulded bases and corbelled caps. The front range, dating from the late 16th century, includes mid-19th century casements, with those on the ground floor having open triangular pediments above. There is also a mid-19th century fully enclosed porch. The rear range is primarily from the 15th century, with an additional storey added in the 17th century. It is plastered and features random fenestration with casements, some from the 20th century and others with old leaded panes. The farmhouse has two gabled former structures and is situated as an isolated building within a large three-sided moat.
