Description
Wairoa is a house dating from the late 17th century, featuring one-and-a-half storeys and a two-cell lobby-entrance plan. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. It has an internal chimney stack with a plain, short, red brick shaft. The ground storey includes two fixed windows, each with six small panes, and there is an inserted dormer with a sloping head. A two-light casement window with a single bar to the lights is located in the south gable. The house has a 20th-century door and an enclosed, gabled porch that also has an asbestos roof. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to. Inside, the framing and ceilings are exposed, showcasing full height studs, joists set on edge, and primary braces. The two trusses that enclose the chimney stack do not have tie-beams. The property's deeds date back to 1795.
