Description

This building is a barn with an attached stable range and cartshed, located 30 metres south of Wangford Hall. It dates from the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The structure features a barn with four bays at the east end, a pair of stables in the center, and an adjacent double cartshed, while the west end has a lower contemporary range. The walls are made of clunch rubble with red and gault brick quoins, gault brick modillioned eaves, and parapet gables that have tumbled-in brickwork. The plinth is constructed from flint rubble with random brick headers, and the roof is covered with pantiles.

The barn has a large doorway on the north side, flanked by slit ventilators made of red brick. Each stable has a boarded door topped with a round-arched head that is infilled with boarding, and next to it is a matching lunette ventilator. The roof is supported by principal rafters and butt-purlins, and all sections except the barn have lofts above. Extensions to the south side and internal partitioning were added in the 19th century. This building is included for its group value.
