TL 78 SE WANGFORD

4/92 Barn and attached stable - range, 30 metres south of Wangford Hall.

GV II

Barn with attached stabling and cartshed. C18 with alterations of C19. At the east end is a barn of 4 bays, in the centre a pair of stables with adjacent double cartshed, and at the west end a lower contemporary range. Clunch rubble walling with quoins of red and gault brick, gault brick modillioned eaves, and parapet gables with tumbled-in brickwork. Plinth of flint rubble with random brick headers. Pantiled roof. The barn has a large doorway on the north side, with, on either side, slit ventilators of red brick. Each stable has a boarded door under a round-arched head infilled with boarding, and beside it a matching lunette ventilator. Principal rafter roof with butt-purlins; all sections except the barn have lofts above. Extensions to the south side and internal partitioning were added C19. Included for group value.
