Description
Swan's Hall is a fine 16th-century timber-framed house featuring exposed timber-framing and plaster infill. The east end of the house includes brick nogging on the north side and the east gable end. It stands two storeys tall with attics. At the west end, there is a timber-framed and plastered cross wing, which may date from an earlier period. The windows are primarily casements with leaded lights, and some are mullioned and transomed. There are several original windows that are blocked, featuring mullions. The east gable end is double jettied, showcasing a carved bressumer and old mullioned and transomed windows with carved heads and sills supported by brackets. The jettied gable is adorned with drop finials. One window head displays the initials "W" and "A" along with a merchant's mark, which appears to be a ship carved between them. The roof is tiled and features a tall, three-shafted red brick chimney stack on a rectangular base, with octagonal shafts and spur caps.
