Description
No. 10 High Street is a timber-framed and plastered house with a late 14th century core, which was raised and fronted in the later 19th century. The building has two storeys and four bays, topped with a roof covered in single Roman tiles that features remains of ornamental ridge tiles, including one depicting a man and another showing an animal. There are two internal chimney-stacks, with moulded shafts made of 19th century brick that were introduced during a restoration around 1970. The house has a three-window range with three-light casements dating from around 1880, each with hood-moulds. On the left side, there is an early 19th century shop window that is bowed and has small panes. Inside, the original framing includes 14th century studding with extensive bracing, two late 14th century doorways, an early 16th century mullioned window, and an inserted chimney-stack. There is also a 20th century extension at the rear.
