Description
This building, originally a snuff and tobacco factory, is now a workshop and salesroom for a piano business. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed from kidney flint with red brick dressings, topped by a tiled mansard roof featuring a brick parapet and band. The structure is two storeys high with an attic and is set back at right angles to Whiting Street. The exterior includes 20th-century replacement windows and double garage-type doors. A flint wall extends along the east side, forming a high garden wall that connects to the side of Number 65. To the west, there is an adjoining house that has been roughcast and has a flat roof due to fire damage in the 1960s. Inside, the building has three bays on the ground floor and two bays above, overlapping with the adjacent house. Both storeys feature open timber ceilings, with joists and cross-beams set on edge. The roof has rafters on edge and a ridge piece. To the west, a cross-wing that was once part of the house is now a salesroom, consisting of four bays with only the main ceiling beams visible.
