Description

24, 25, and 26 Guildhall Street is a row of three houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of white brick and topped with slate roofs that feature paired bracketed eaves soffits. The buildings are three storeys tall and have cellars. There is a six-window range, with 12-pane sash windows on the ground and first storeys, and 9-pane sash windows on the second storey. All windows have plain reveals, flat gauged arches, and stone sills, though alternate window openings are blocked. Raised brick bands run between the storeys. Each house has a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. Number 26 retains its original glazing bars, while the others have blank surrounds with plain pilasters and dentilled cornices. The rear elevations are made of flint and red brick, featuring 12-pane sash windows with segmental heads and shallow reveals.

Inside, the cellar of Number 24 has walls made of flint, brick, and stone blocks, along with a reused ceiling beam. There are no earlier features within the house. It includes an early 19th-century corner stair with closed strings, stick balusters, ramped handrails, and column newels. Internal window shutters have sunk panels, and there is a reeded fireplace surround, along with one ornate cast-iron raised grate on the first storey. Early 19th-century features are also said to remain in Number 26.
