Description
65 and 66 Whiting Street are a pair of cottages built in the early 19th century. They feature a white brick front with rendered sides and rear, and the rear wall has comb pargeting. The cottages have a double Roman tiled roof and an internal chimney stack with a high rectangular white brick shaft.
The buildings are two storeys tall, with the former cellar now infilled. Each cottage has two windows, which are 12-pane sashes set in flush cased frames on both storeys. There are two doorways at the ends, each with semicircular arched brick surrounds and blank fanlights. No. 65 has a 20th-century half-glazed door, while No. 66 has a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed.
Inside, there are no exposed internal features that date before the early 19th century. These cottages are included for their group value as part of the street scene.
