Description
Cavendish Hall is a large early 19th-century white brick house built by Thomas Halifax around 1800. It has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The first-storey windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals, while the ground-storey windows are generally French casements located in slightly recessed round-headed brick panels. The south front features a three-window range and a central glazed door, which is framed by a wide Ionic portico with paired plain columns and a modillion pediment. The west front includes two flanking semi-circular bows, each with a three-window range that rises through two storeys. The roof is hipped and covered with slate. Inside, there is a fine dining room with marble Ionic columns and an oval-shaped landing with elegant panelled doors set in deep panelled reveals.
