Description
Jasmine Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. It has two storeys and is built of clay lump faced with brick, rendered on the front and whitewashed overall. The roof is shallow-pitched and covered with slate. The cottage is double-fronted, featuring two end chimney-stacks set within the gable walls. It has a three-window range with small-paned sashes set in very deep reveals. The 19th-century door has four lower panels that are raised and fielded, with a semi-circular opening resembling a fanlight at the top. Above the door is a flat pediment, with surrounds that include small reeded half-columns.
At the front, there are low ornate wrought-iron railings with spear-heads, attached by a short stretch of wall at each end, along with a matching gate. At the rear, there is a large 18th-century timber-framed and rendered wing, which has had its roof raised to a very shallow pitch later on, and some exposed timberwork can be seen inside. Additionally, there are several flat-roofed 20th-century extensions and a long single-storey range from the mid-19th century, built of whitewashed brick with a pantiled roof, which was formerly used as stables and is now part of the living accommodation.
