Description

Orchard Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It has one and a half storeys with attics and is constructed with a timber frame that is rendered. The cottage features a thatched gambrel roof, which includes a gabled thatched casement dormer, and has axial and gable chimneys made of red brick. The windows are small-pane casements from the 20th century. There is a boarded entrance door that is sheltered by a hipped thatched open porch supported by posts. The roof is designed with rafters that are bent to create the gambrel shape without requiring ties at the point where the roof pitch changes. Additionally, there is a section from the 19th century made of flint located at the right-hand end of the building.
