Description
The garden wall located 100 yards south of St. Mary’s Church is an 18th-century structure. It measures approximately 140 yards by 160 yards, enclosing three sides and remaining open to the south. In the southeast corner, there is a smaller three-sided enclosure measuring 40 by 50 yards. The north corners of the wall are rounded. The wall is constructed of red brick, with the upper courses rebuilt in the 19th century and topped with concrete copings. At the south end of each of the three return walls, there is a terminal pier made of gauged brickwork in an early 18th-century style, featuring a moulded oversailing cornice, a plinth, and a scrolled buttress that connects the pier head to the top of the wall.
