Description

This is a churchyard monument located in the Abbey Precincts of Bury St Edmunds, dating from 1747. It is made of Ketton stone and consists of a coffin-stone with head and footstones. The monument commemorates S. Rogers, an apothecary, who died in 1747, and E. Rogers, who died in 1791. The headstone features the Eye of God surrounded by clouds, with winged angel heads on either side and swags of flowers beneath. Ribbons and flowers adorn the sides of the inscription panel.
