Description
Tattershall's Arch is a triumphal arch built in 1864 by Charles Freeman. It stands about 7 metres high and is designed in the Roman style. The arch is made of Portland limestone and has a slated roof. It features an entablature with a pediment supported by Doric columns, framing a semi-circular arched opening. The south-west and north-east faces of the arch are identical, although the north-east face includes a coat of arms in relief within the pediment. Each return wall is made of rusticated limestone blocks and has flat-arched openings. Originally, the arch was part of a larger composition at Tattershalls Knightsbridge in London before being moved to its current location around 1960.
