Description
The Old Shop is a house dating from the late 17th century. It has one and a half storeys and a two-cell plan. The building is timber-framed and encased in 19th-century colour-washed brick, topped with a pantiled roof and featuring an internal chimney stack.
On the right side, there is a late 19th-century double shop front, which includes a projecting bay with two small-paned windows set in heavy boxed surrounds, and a central glazed and panelled door. On the left side, there is a small bay with a single-bar sash window in a boxed frame. Above the windows, the brickwork displays four irregularly spaced segmental arches with keystones, which were made for the earlier 19th-century windows. The building also has two gabled dormers, each with sash windows.
