Description

Cockerills Hall is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in several periods. The building has two storeys and attics, constructed from timber framing and plaster, topped with a plaintiled roof that features two 19th-century gabled casement dormers. There is a central 19th-century chimney made of red brick, along with two similar internal end chimneys. The windows are mid-19th-century three-light casements with small panes, and those on the ground floor have square hoodmoulds.

The entrance is notable for its mid-18th-century design, featuring a well-moulded open pediment and sunk pilasters, along with an eight-panelled door that has fielded lower panels and glazed upper panels. A late 19th-century porch sits on a painted brick plinth; it is timber-framed and ornately glazed, resembling a small conservatory, with paired entrance doors that are panelled, half-glazed, and topped with an elliptical head.

Some late 16th-century framing is visible, including chamfered main beams and joists, close-studding, and a clasped-purlin roof. A parallel rear range was added in the late 17th century. Inside, the parlour features well-preserved mid-18th-century panelling. The property is also associated with a partial medieval moat, with the west arm likely infilled when the current house was constructed.
