Description
Bryces Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the mid-16th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior, topped with a pantiled roof. The building has a three-cell layout and stands two storeys high. It features various casement windows, mostly from the mid-20th century, but retains one original window with diamond mullions on the north side. The entrance is a lobby type, with a 20th-century gabled porch. There is an internal stack with a square shaft that extends to the south. Additionally, there is a two-storey south addition made of colourwashed brick, which has a glazed black pantiled roof. The interior has not been examined during the recent survey, but it is noted to have a queen-post roof with intact hipped ends. The rafters have been painted with a soot solution for preservation, according to information from Mr. T. Easton of Bedfield Hall.
