Description
Oak Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, likely built in more than one phase. There is a 19th-century wing at the rear (west). The building is timber framed and plastered, with some small remnants of old plaster panels, and features a pantiled roof. The 19th-century addition is rendered and has a roof made of double Roman tiles. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, designed in a three-cell, lobby entry layout. It has four windows, which are various casements, mostly from the 19th century. To the right of the doorway, there is a canted ground floor bay. The doorway, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, has an architrave, a convex frieze, and a cornice, with a 20th-century door. Inside, there is an internal stack with a plain shaft, positioned almost centrally. The interior has been significantly altered since the 18th century, with a large ground floor room created to the south of the stack. Some plain first floor studding remains, and there is an 18th-century straight stair. The roof structure has not been examined.
