Description

Melrose is a cottage that likely dates from the late 17th century, with an addition to the right and further extensions made around 1983. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. The building consists of two main sections: the left side has two storeys and an attic, while the right side has one and a half storeys. The cottage features 20th-century casement windows, and the right section includes a raking dormer. There is a mid-20th-century entrance door located in the modern addition. A gable stack is present at the junction with High Hall Cottage. Much of the structure appears to be made from reused timbers, and one floor beam retains the remains of roll-moulding. The cottage is included for its group value.
