Description
Valley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a likely earlier core. It underwent significant remodelling around 1830. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with plaintiled roofs, and features ridge tiles decorated with fleurs-de-lys. It has axial chimneys made of red brick and stands two storeys high with attics. The layout follows a three-cell cross passage entrance plan. The windows are early 19th century small-pane sashes. A 19th-century gabled entrance porch, covered with plaintiles, has bargeboards with undulating soffits and a 20th-century half-glazed panelled door. The higher rear wing was added in the late 17th century, while the main range was likely re-roofed and provided with attics. A rear outshut also dates from the 17th century, although some of the wall framing in the main range appears to be from the 16th century.
