Description
Church Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse located on the west side of The Causeway in Walsham le Willows. The building is timber-framed and rendered, featuring remnants of comb-patterned pargetting and an old plaintile roof. It has two storeys and a lobby entrance, with a fully hipped roof. An internal chimney stack has a plain rebuilt red brick shaft. The upper floor includes four 2-light casement windows with a single bar to the lights, while the ground floor has five cross windows. The entrance door, which is half-glazed and from the 20th century, is set in a plain surround and topped with a small flat pediment. Although access was not obtained during the visit, a previous survey from 1962 noted that the ground-floor rooms have good exposed ceilings. One room features a heavy main beam with triangle stops and moulded post heads, while another has double roll-mouldings on the main beam and joists. Additionally, the internal stack has been tunnelled through for the insertion of a 19th-century stair.
