Description
1-3 Thatched Cottages are three houses built as one in the 16th or 17th century. The buildings are two storeys high and feature three windows, likely arranged in a three-cell plan. They have a timber-framed and plastered construction with a thatched roof. There are three axial chimneys made of red brick, all with 19th-century shafts, although the central chimney appears to be a rebuild of an earlier structure. The first storey has two mid-19th-century windows with small-pane cast iron casements, while later 19th-century casements are found elsewhere. There are also two 19th-century boarded entrance doors with moulded architraves, and lean-to porches were under construction at the time of the survey. Evidence suggests there was a blocked entrance door in a likely cross-entry position. The interior has not been examined.
