Description
The barn and stable, located 40 meters south of Mausoleum House, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features five bays and is constructed with a timber frame, partly covered in weatherboarding and partly in corrugated iron. The lower part of the framing is encased in common brick. The roof is made of corrugated iron sheeting, which was once thatched.
On the west side, there is a gabled porch at the center, which includes a dovecote in the gable. The barn exhibits good framing for its age, reusing much timber. It has archbraced tiebeams at the open trusses, close-studding with a middle rail, and storey-posts at half-bay intervals, along with primary bracing. The roof structure consists of a two-tier butt-purlin system, with the upper tier being windbraced.
To the north, there is an early 19th-century timber-framed and weatherboarded stable that includes a loft, manger, and hayrack.
