Description
Briar Cottage and Thatched Cottage are two houses built as one in the early 17th century or earlier, with a medieval core. They are one storey high with attics and feature a three-cell cross-entry plan. The buildings are timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof that is half-hipped to the right. An axial chimney, rebuilt in 20th century red brick, is present. There are two 19th century casement dormers and small-pane casements from the 19th and 20th centuries. The entrance to Thatched Cottage has a boarded and battened 20th century door, while Briar Cottage has a glazed panelled door. Thatched Cottage also has inserted binding beams projecting from the front wall, indicating the presence of a medieval open hall with a later upper floor.
