Description
11 and 13 Station Road is a former inn, known as the White Horse Inn, that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the 15th or 16th century and was altered in the 20th century. The building has a timber-framed structure, with a brick skin added to the ground floor and tile hanging on the first floor during the 20th century. It is two storeys high and features a five-window front.
On the ground floor, there is a square-headed carriage arch on the right side. To the left of the centre, a 20th-century double shopfront replaces the original public house facade from 1903. There is also a 20th-century door and doorway on the left, and a 20th-century sash window without glazing bars on the right. The carriage arch retains two cranked braces with stylised foliage carving and moulded jambs.
The first floor has five late 19th-century horned sash windows with a 4/8 configuration. The building has a gabled roof. Inside the carriage passage, some timber-framing is visible. At the rear, there is a roughcast timber-framed extension to the west and a gault brick hipped and slated extension to the east. Three red brick stacks are aligned with the original outside wall.
