Description

Lower Spring Cottage is a house likely dating from the 17th century. It originally had a two-cell end-chimney plan. The house is two storeys high, with timber framing and rendered plaster walls. The roof is now covered with concrete tiles, but was originally thatched. A 17th-century chimney of red brick is at the left end, with the upper half rebuilt in the 20th century; a later 19th-century chimney is located at the right end. Small-pane casement windows were added in the early 20th century. 19th-century lean-to extensions with pantiled roofs extend from each end, one of which contains a boarded entrance door. The interior has not been inspected.
