Description

This is an early or mid-16th century house, situated on King William Street in Needham Market, with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a two-storey, three-window building. The house is timber-framed and plastered, with roughcast panels having broad borders applied in the 18th or 19th century. Originally, the building had a jettied facade facing the street. The roof is covered with concrete plain tiles, and a large red brick chimney dates to the 17th century. The windows are late 18th or early 19th century small-pane sashes. A 20th-century glazed panelled door is set within a 19th-century doorway. Some arch-braced studwork remains visible at the first storey. The roof structure is a fragmentary coupled-rafter design. One ground floor room features 18th-century moulding applied to original ceiling beams.
